Who Lives at Chenonceau?

The Chateau of Chenonceau is home to the largest colony of House Martins in the Touraine Loire Valley. Their mud nests can be seen tucked up under cornices and decorative friezes on the chateau. The adult birds are a delight to watch, with their rapid aerial sallies and twittering conversation. Birdwatchers will be captivated. The birds and their nests are protected by law.
